I am one of only a handful of Hebrew>English translators who truly have English as a native language; the majority being Israelis with English as a second language. Translating into a non-native language is a contentious issue but the overall consensus is that in ideal circumstances you should only ever translate into your native language. It remains a phenomenon which afflicts most language pairs but it is especially prevalent in the Hebrew-English pair. Even fewer translators in this pair can match my linguistic knowledge and academic background; this unique combination of attributes and skills makes me distinctively qualified to translate in the Hebrew>English direction.
